The Beyond Maths competition is hosted annually by Glenwood Preparatory School. The competition was launched in 2016 and has been well supported by over 30 schools across KZN each year. Each year, there is an average of 8000 participants.
In 2024, Grade 3 pupils were invited to participate for the first time. The competition now consists of three levels: Level 0 (Grade 3); Level 1 (Grade 4 and 5); Level 2 (Grade 6 and 7). There are two rounds. Round 1 is written in early-June under teacher invigilation at individual schools. Pupils who achieve a result of 50% and above qualify for Round 2, which is hosted at Glenwood Prep in mid-August.
A prize giving is held in mid-September where the top 100 achievers are celebrated. Prizes consist of floating trophies for the winners in each grade, a special “Beyond Maths” badge for each achiever, along with many other goodies.
